A refreshing breakfast to wake up to

As we all hear over and over again, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I have always been a breakfast lover and rarely miss one for as long as I can recall. I just can't go on if I don't have anything in my stomach, I simply can't function and literally starve. Oatmeal must be one out of the two breakfast items in my book (the other is fruit/yogurt combo).
This particular "Steel cut" oat and I have a love affair for years since I knew of its existence. Its texture is so different than regular oatmeal, I feel that it is more filling. The only downside is that it takes a very long time to cook, but totally worth every second. This is my kind of breakfast to make on weekends when I don't have to get myself and my little girl out the door in the mad morning rush.
My favorite condiments include: Orange | Dried cranberries | Walnuts (and sometimes banana)
Sugar is not neccessary as there is plenty of natural sweetness from fruit.

  1. i NEED to eat within 1hr of waking or i turn into a monster! lovely pictures!

  2. nelah, if i don't eat breakfast i become so irritable! hahaha i have to eat something. i have got to try steel cut oatmeal. several celebrities have mentioned how awesome it is. right now i only have the instant. hahahaha do you know i didn't even think about adding fruit to mine? the only kind of instant i eat is the apples and cinnamon (so good), but i think i will really like this. girl, this week has been super hectic with me. i'm just getting around to reading blogs. next week is Thanksgiving, so i hope things settle down by then. have an amazing weekend. love you girl! beautiful pics :)

  3. Congrats on your new "home" :)

  6. Your breakfast is not only yummy but healthy. I really should learn a thing or two from you. My breakfast of milo with oats is usually gulped down in a hurry. I would have my bread or bun when I reach my office. I have to look out for this brand of oats in my local stores. We don;t have many of those brands found in the States.

  7. i love this :) i've never tried steel cut oatmeal but i eat oatmeal with fruits everyday for breakfast.. well accept on vacation.. on vacation i eat really bad things for you like waffles w/ butter and syrup and bacon.. and my husband who doesn't eat oatmeal normally.. but when we were in the Alps this weekend.. he ate oatmeal?! i was like 'huh??' normal ppl eat oatmeal regularly and go crazy during vacation.. but not my husband hahaha.

  8. I love steel cut oatmeal, too! But it does take a long time to make. And my mornings are usually rushed! It looks good the way you serve it here!

  9. your breakfast looks delish! and I have to say I am not a huge fan of steel cut oats (maybe I dont manke them well?) but I love my oatmeal!

  10. I'm a huge fan of oatmeal and practically eat it every day for breakfast. Must try the steel cut version soon. I usually need a quick fix so I have to make do with minute oatmeal. Love that you pair it with so many different fruits!
