Blue..Blue..Blueberry Pie~*

Fresh and plump blueberries are yummy and they scream "antioxidant" and "healthy" How about sugar, pie crust and some butter too? They make perfect combination. It totally is a wonderful marriage/blend/explosion of flavors in your mouth and a pretty presentation for your eyes. Each warm, savory and gooey bite of blueberry pie will send your taste bud to heaven over and over again. It is addictive you have to lie to yourself that it is healthy so it is okay to eat more and perhaps a little bit more!

My husband had been wanting to try a homemade blueberry pie for quite some time so as soon as he was discharged from a hospital last week, I thought this pie would delight a poor man who had his appendix removed and got screwed on Vegas plan. Sure enough it was a pure delight!

Gathering ingredients for this pie was a breeze. Not to mention how easy it was to prep and bake. It is one of the simplest and easiest recipes i have tried, and totally adore. It is great as a based fruit pie recipe when it comes to berries family. I am thinking Strawberry Pie next. What I love most about this recipe is that it is light and only requires very few ingredients, nothing fancy. Less is more proves to be true in many cases. I belive that a good fruit pie should not be too sugary to the point sugar overwhelms the flavor and freshness of fruit.

I slightly modified this recipe, here is my version:

3/4 cup white sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Mix sugar, starch and sprinkle over blueberries.
  3. Line pie dish with one pie crust. Pour berry mixture into the crust, and dot with butter. Cut remaining pastry into 1/2 - 3/4 inch wide strips, and make lattice top. Crimp and flute edges.
  4. Bake pie on lower shelf of oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.

  3. Oh my Nelah! I'm afraid to admit I've never actually had blueberry pie before but I've suddenly been struck with the biggest craving for it thanks to your gorgeous presentation! I just read through the recipe and it does sound rather easy. For now I'll just drool at my screen lol.

Thanks for your sweet comment yesterday! My husband is actually the professional dumpling wrapper in the family. His mom taught him when he was little. Isn't that cute :) I'm okay at it but he's just better cause he's more patient than I am.

  5. I like it when you tweak recipes and craft due to your "laziness". Ok maybe not laziness. I'm a little like you. I try to adapt to my own way coz I like to skip steps or make do with what I can find at home.

I never knew blueberry pies are so easy to make. I love buns with blueberry filling but I do not know how processed those fillings are. Yours is defnitely a healthy choice.

You are quite a lazy craft person if you must say you are lazy. I love your creativity. If you are ever gonna try this, remember to feature in a post ok? I would love to see.
